Please note that to date, we have only set up sign-up genius for regular rehearsals. We will add the performances at a later date, after we know more about location and logistics. Of course, we will keep you informed.
Let us know if you have any questions!
Casting and Meeting Info
Congrats to everyone who auditioned. Everyone who auditioned has been assigned a role. If you don't see your student's name, please be in touch. (Please excuse any misspelled names; the Director cast roles based off of forms that the students completed themselves and it was sometimes difficult to read the handwriting.)
We are looking forward to the Parent's Meeting (mandatory) this Monday November 19 at 7 pm in the Sugarloaf Elementary cafeteria.
Please enter the building through the cafeteria doors on the side of the building (same side car riders are dropped off).
This meeting is for adults only. Bar-T will be providing childcare for school-age children. If you plan on bringing any students, please let us know by Sunday so we can plan accordingly for Bar-T.
A representative from the Maryland Ensemble Theater (MET) will be joining us to share details about the play.
We will have a lot of information to share with you and some additional paperwork for you to complete before rehearsals begin.
If your student has decided not to participate in the play, please let us know as soon as possible.
We are hoping a rehearsal schedule will be available by Monday's meeting. If you have any questions in the meantime, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
the UES PTA Play Committee
We are thrilled with the response; over 150 students have signed up. The Maryland Ensemble Theater is casting and directing the play; while the PTA will manage the logistics. Please read the following carefully and share with your student.
Auditions will be held after school until approximately 5:15*** on:
Monday November 12 for K through 3rd grade Tuesday November 13 for 4th and 5th grade
Please send your child on the designated day only and a note to the teacher that your student will be participating in the play and will need to be dismissed to the cafeteria after school. The school will have a list of students auditioning and we will have volunteers to help get students to where they need to be.
Each student should bring a snack from home and something to work on while they wait their turn to audition.
Magnet students will need to leave school at dismissal at 2:30 and be brought back to the cafeteria at 3:45. Please enter the cafeteria through the outside doors on the side of the building and check in with the parent volunteer upon arrival. Please note that magnet students throughout the play rehearsals will need to leave school at 2:30 and be brought back when rehearsals start at 3:45.
Your student should be prepared to sing a 30 second song of his/her choosing. There will be no live music or other accompaniment but students may bring music to play from a recording if it helps them sing.
Students will be called by grade to audition and the song will be sung in front of their peers.
4th and 5th graders will also be asked to read a page from the script.
Dismissal. Please come to the rear of the building where the bus riders exit to pick up your student. You will need to come to the doors and check out your child with the parent volunteer. This may take a few minutes, as we will have close to 100 students on Monday.
**** DISMISSAL. To speed up the dismissal process, parents of Kindergartners and 1st graders can arrive at 5:00 to pick up students. Parents of 3rd graders: As we had a higher than expected turnout, it is possible that the 3rd graders will run past 5:15 on Monday. Please let us know if this creates a hardship.
The cast list should be complete by November 16 and the information will be posted on the UES PTA website (uespta.org) and sent in an email to parents.
The mandatory parent meeting will be on November 19 at 7 pm in the cafeteria. We will go over many details of what's to come and a representative of the MET will be there. Bar-T will provide childcare for school-age children. If you do plan on bringing your student(s), please let us know so we can plan accordingly.
Should it become necessary to contact us during auditions, please call Carey Murphy at 301.412.3164
As this is our school's first production and we have so many students, please be patient with us as we navigate all the many parts. If at any time, you have questions, please use our email at email@example.com or speak with us in person.
We have heard from other schools who have participated in MET's school productions that this will be a super fun and amazing experience for everyone involved! Thanks for being a part of it! Let's have fun!
